Ingredients

  • ½ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • tablespoons honey
  • 6 medium garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
  • teaspoons Kosher salt
  • pounds flank steak

Equipment

  • Chef's Knife

Method

  1. In a large zip baggie, combine soy sauce, olive oil, honey, garlic, rosemary, pepper, and salt. Make sure to mix it well to ensure all the flavors blend together.
  2. Add the flank steak to the bag and turn it gently to coat. This is where the magic begins—let the steak sit in the marinade, soaking up all those delicious flavors. You can marinate it for anywhere from 2 to 10 hours, so plan accordingly!
  3. When you're ready to grill, drain the marinade from the bag. Let the steak rest at room temperature for about 15 minutes. This helps the steak cook more evenly and keeps it juicy.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. A hot grill is crucial for getting that perfect sear on the outside.
  5. Once the grill is hot, place the steak on the grill. Grill for about 4 to 6 minutes per side, depending on how well done you prefer it. For medium-rare, the internal temperature should read 135°F.
  6. After grilling, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes. This resting time is essential, allowing the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
  7. Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips. This technique helps to ensure tenderness with each bite.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite sides and enjoy the burst of flavors!
