Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cups sprinkles
  • 2 cups frosting any frosting of choice

Equipment

  • Food Processor
  • Frying pan
  • Oven
  • Chef's Knife
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). This step is crucial as it ensures the cake bakes evenly. Grease two 8-inch springform cake pans with a bit of oil or butter and set them aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Mix these dry ingredients thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of the baking soda and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the water, vegetable oil, and vinegar until well combined. This mixture helps create a moist batter.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a thick batter forms. Be careful not to overmix; just stir until there are no dry spots.
  5. Now, gently fold in the sprinkles. This is where the fun begins! The sprinkles should be evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans. Use a spatula to smooth the tops and ensure they bake evenly.
  7. Place the cake pans in the preheated oven and bake for about 27 to 30 minutes. You’ll know they’re done when a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for a few minutes. Then, carefully transfer the cakes onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. When the cakes are completely cool, take a wet knife and slice through the center of each cake to create four thin layers. This step adds elegance and layers to your Funfetti Cake.
  10. Begin assembling your cake by placing one layer on a flat surface. Spread a generous amount of frosting on top. Repeat this process with the remaining layers, stacking them one by one.
  11. Once assembled, cover the exterior of the cake with extra frosting. Let the cake sit for about 30 minutes to set before serving.
