Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 10 ounces marshmallows
  • ½ teaspoon green food coloring
  • 6 cups corn flakes
  • 3-4 tablespoons mini red chocolate candies
  • 2 tablespoons red & green sprinkles optional

Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Large spoon or silicone spatula
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • 3.5 inch cookie cutter
  • Small bowl of water

Method

  1. Start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will prevent the cookies from sticking and make cleanup easier later. Set the prepared sheet aside and place a small bowl of water next to your workspace. This will be handy for wetting your hands when shaping the wreaths.
  2. In a large pot over medium-low heat, add the butter. Let it melt completely while stirring gently to avoid burning. The buttery aroma fills the kitchen, setting the mood for what’s to come.
  3. Once the butter has melted, add the marshmallows. Stir continuously until they are completely melted and smooth. This mixture will become the glue for your cookies, so be patient and keep stirring!
  4. When the marshmallows are melted, remove the pot from the heat. Immediately add the green food coloring and stir well to ensure the color is evenly distributed. You'll see that lovely green hue come to life.
  5. Next, pour in the corn flakes into the pot. Using a spatula or large spoon, gently mix the corn flakes with the marshmallow mixture until every flake is coated. Be careful not to crush the corn flakes too much, as you want them to retain their shape and crunch.
  6. Take your cookie cutter (or biscuit cutter) and place it on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Scoop about ⅓ cup of the mixture and place it inside the cutter.
  7. Now, wet your hands slightly with the bowl of water. Use your hands to press the mixture down inside the cookie cutter to form a wreath shape. Push the corn flakes towards the edges, creating a hollow center that resembles a wreath.
  8. Gently remove the cookie cutter to reveal your first wreath. Repeat this process until you’ve used up all the mixture. If your hands get sticky, just wet them again to make shaping easier.
  9. Add 3 or more mini M&Ms on each wreath and sprinkle with the red and green sprinkles as desired. This step is where you can let your creativity shine.
  10. Finally, place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 20 minutes, or until the wreaths are firm enough to lift off the parchment without losing their shape. Once set, enjoy these festive treats!

Notes

  • Tip 1: You can make these cookies as large as 4 inches across and as small as 3 1/4 inches across.
  • Tip 2: Using a cookie cutter or biscuit cutter that is smaller than 3 1/4 inches won’t work as well as you won’t have enough hole in the center.
  • Tip 3: I find a biscuit cutter is a little easier to work with, as it has a slightly higher edge which makes it easier to form the cookies.
