Notes

  • Tip 1: We are seeking to double the usual recipe, so be sure to use large size bowls and baking dish.
  • Tip 2: You CAN make this in a slow cooker, but you will need a large 6-8 quart size.
  • Tip 3: This is a great side dish for adding your own touch like fresh mushrooms, or cheddar cheese.
  • Tip 4: You can substitute the classic onion topping with butter coated and crushed corn flakes!
  • Tip 5: Keep this traditional green bean casserole recipe oven ready in an airtight container!
  • Tip 6: Plan your oven space for the big day! This casserole takes up half of a rack and will take slightly longer cooking time if other items are in the oven.
  • Tip 7: Shop early! French fried onions keep on the shelf, buy those early at the grocery store (they sell out quickly).
  • Tip 8: Add ¼ - ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper for a bit of spice.
