Ingredients

  • 6 whole Eggs
  • 1 can Pickled Beets

Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Frying pan
  • Peeler

Method

  1. Start by placing the eggs into a saucepan. Make sure they are in a single layer, so they cook evenly.
  2. Cover the eggs with water, ensuring there’s about an inch above them. This will help with even cooking.
  3. Heat the saucepan on high until the water reaches a boil. You’ll notice bubbles forming as the water heats up.
  4. Once boiling, cover the saucepan with a lid and turn off the heat. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for about 15 minutes. This technique helps prevent overcooking, giving you perfectly cooked hard-boiled eggs.
  5. After 15 minutes, carefully remove the pan from the stove. Run cool water through the pan to stop the cooking process.
  6. Once the eggs are cool enough to handle, peel them gently. You’ll want to be careful to avoid any cracks.
  7. Now, take your canned beets and pour them into a bowl. You’ll want to use a glass bowl here to avoid any staining from the beet juice.
  8. Add the peeled eggs to the bowl with the beets. Make sure they are fully submerged in the juice for even dyeing.
  9. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the eggs to sit in the beet juice for 24 to 36 hours. The longer they sit, the richer the color will be!

Notes

If you have any leftover eggs, they can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
