Ingredients

  • 1 cup Balsamic vinegar
  • 3/4 cup Ketchup
  • 1/3 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper

Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Frying pan
  • Saucepan
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients together. You’ll need balsamic vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Having everything at hand makes the process smoother.
  2. In a medium saucepan, whisk together all the ingredients. Make sure to combine the balsamic vinegar, ketchup, and brown sugar thoroughly to create a uniform mixture.
  3. Once mixed, place the saucepan over medium heat. It’s important to stir occasionally as you bring the sauce to a boil. You’ll notice the rich aromas starting to develop.
  4. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer gently for about 15 minutes. This simmering process allows the flavors to meld beautifully, thickening the sauce in the process.
  5. While the sauce is simmering, you can prepare your chicken (or whatever you’re planning to grill). Season it with your favorite BBQ seasoning or simply salt and pepper for a classic flavor.
  6. When the sauce has thickened, remove it from the heat. You’ll want to let it cool slightly before using it. This will allow the flavors to settle even more.
  7. Now, it’s time to grill! Brush the sauce over the chicken while it’s cooking. The heat will caramelize the sugars in the sauce, creating a lovely glaze.
  8. Grill the chicken for about 8 minutes on each side. Keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t burn. You want that perfect crispy exterior!
  9. After grilling, brush on more Balsamic BBQ Sauce on each side of the chicken and let it cook for an additional minute on each side. This final touch will seal in all that flavor.
  10. Once done, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. This step is crucial for juicy chicken!
